I love all of your patterns! I am an advanced beginner/newly intermediate knitter. Although I have knitted hats and mittens before and I swatched before I knitted, I found that this pattern is way too big for kids and for my granddaughter, who is 10. I used Vanna’s Choice (Lion Brand) worsted wool, with sz. 5 and sz. 4 needles(for the cuff), the mittens are way too big. Can you be more specific for Girls and breakdown the measurements a little ( ie girls 3-5;6-8; 10-12; teen; adult)? There is too much of a range here and your patterns are so cute!! Even if I use small needles for my next set and different wool, I fear that they will still be too big. Please advise. Thanks, Joyce

March 16, 2017 at 4:44 pm (7 years ago)Hi Joyce! Oh no, I’m sorry to hear that! Are you sure you are getting the gauge? What size did you make for your granddaughter, the adult or the girls size? Did you measure her hand and compare that against the size chart? When I was doing research, I found that mittens for ages 8+ were basically the same, but if she happened to have smaller hands perhaps the girls size would suit her better. Did the gloves you made fit an adult? Usually this all comes back to gauge – I do think if you tried again with a smaller needle size you would have success (you may knit looser than me).
